Watch live as Dawson announces college choice
You know you want to know.
The question on the minds of virtually everyone who follows high school football in this area — and perhaps in all of Kentucky, will be answered hours from now when Boyle County linebacker Lamar Dawson announces his college choice.
Dawson’s announcement will come during a school assembly/rally/press conference at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Boyle, and the Advocate is covering it in every possible way. most notably with a live online video stream from the event:

- Find full coverage in the Advocate and at amnews.com both Wednesday and Thursday.
This is one of the biggest college announcements ever by a high school athlete in this area, and it’s easily the biggest since a snowy day in February 1998 when Harrodsburg teammates Dennis Johnson and Julius Yeast revealed they were going to Kentucky and Ohio State, respectively.
Dawson, who was named Kentucky’s Mr. Football last month and a Parade magazine All-American on Monday, has done an impressive job of keeping his cards close to the vest throughout his recruitment, saying essentially the same thing about every school he has visited. The few reports that have come out so far have been pure speculation, and the few people who might actually know where Dawson is leaning or where he’s headed aren’t talking, although he was expected to call the affected coaches tonight to tell them his decision.
The last word from Dawson was that he had trimmed his choices to five schools: Kentucky, Oregon, Southern Cal, Tennessee and UCF, but he is expected to have only three hats on the table in front of him in the morning.
And no, I don’t know where he’s going, either.
