Danville doubles up at All ‘A’
In the 21-year history of the All “A” Classic as we currently know it, there has been a single dominant school from the 12th Region, and it hasn’t been Danville.
But this year brings the best sign yet of a possible sea change, as Danville will send both its boys and girls teams to the statewide small-school tournament for the first time in the same season.
The girls play Walton-Verona today and the boys play Metcalfe County on Thursday at McBrayer Arena in Richmond. And both are winnable first-round games that give Judie Mason’s girls and Matthew Yates’ boys a chance to move deep into their respective brackets.
