Casey booster honored by ADs’ association
Lee Murphy, a Liberty resident and longtime supporter of Casey County athletics, is one of six recipients of this year’s Dr. Rudy J. Ellis Distinguished Service Awards from the Kentucky High School Athletic Directors Association.
The award is given to athletic volunteers who are not coaches or athletic directors. It’s a well-deserved honor for Murphy, who has served Casey sports teams in many capacities for many years. He is most visible as a basketball statistician and a member of the football chain crew, but there probably isn’t much of anything — short of coaching — that he hasn’t done or supported at Casey over the years.
