KHSAA soccer, wrestling finals moved to Lexington

The KHSAA has announced new venues for the state soccer and wrestling championships, both of which will be held in Lexington beginning this school year.

The boys and girls soccer semifinals and finals will be held at Paul Dunbar’s Akers Stadium, which has an artificial turf field that should be well suited for playing six games in four days. Dunbar will host the final four in 2011 and 2012, with this year’s games set for Nov. 2-5. The soccer championships have been played in Georgetown since 1999.

The state wrestling tournament will move to the Kentucky Horse Park’s Alltech Arena and will be shortened from three days to two (Feb. 17-18) because of the additional mat space available there. The tournament has been held in Frankfort since 1996.

Here is the KHSAA press release announcing the moves.
