Loyalties in the Irvine household will be divided for tonight’s Burgin-Model boys game in Richmond. Longtime Burgin coach Don Irvine will lead a team that includes his youngest son, Sam, into a game in which his oldest son, Zack, will be on the opposite bench.
Zack Irvine, a former Burgin player and a student at Eastern Kentucky University, is getting his start in coaching as a volunteer assistant at Model, a regular opponent for the Bulldogs.
Meanwhile, Don Irvine’s wife, Nancy, has come up with one of those split T-shirts that allow her to show her support for both sides. The coach said in an email that he’s waiting to see which section of the gym his wife sits in.
