A new year begins
Odds are you didn’t notice it, but another year of high school sports has begun. It starts early — really early — with the beginning of golf season on July 29, and the first serves of volleyball season went into the air Monday. Those will be followed by the starts of soccer season Aug. 13, football on Aug. 17 and cross country on Aug. 20.
Here at the Advocate, our previews for the six football teams in our coverage area have already been published, with the last of them running Sunday. Preseason features on soccer and golf have also appeared, and a volleyball feature is scheduled for Wednesday or Thursday. Visit the high school sports page at amnews.com to catch up.
Here’s a look at the new fall sports coaches at Advocate-area schools:
- Garrard County — Evan Seagraves, boys golf; Christen Roseberry, girls golf; Kevin Green, boys soccer; Dickie Gilbert, voleyball.
- Kentucky School for the Deaf — Heath McClain, boys cross country.
- Lincoln County — Louis Bailey, boys cross country; Chaz Garcia, boys soccer; Andrew Kaiser, girls soccer.
- Mercer County — Chris Pardue, football; Matt Vogel, boys soccer; Tony Brown, girls soccer.
There are no changes among the fall sports coaches at Boyle County, Burgin, Casey County or Danville. And as of now, the entire coaching rosters at both Boyle and Danville are exactly the same as last year.
