Danville girls return to All ‘A’ Classic
The Danville girls will make their first appearance in the All “A” Classic in five years when they play Gallatin County at 6:30 p.m. today in Frankfort.
The 6:30 p.m. game follows a game between Leslie County and Louisville Holy Cross and precedes two other games. Tickets for the four-game session are $10 at the door.

Danville (11-6) brings a three-game winning streak into its 6:30 p.m. game, with wins over Garrard County, Monticello and Somerset, the last two in its All “A” regional. Prior to that, the Lady Admirals lost four straight to Mercer, Lincoln, Woodford and Boyle counties.
Gallatin (17-2) has won 11 consecutive games since a Dec. 21 loss to Madison Central. The Lady Wildcats defeated Carroll County, Trimble County and Williamstown in their All “A” regional and have beaten Oldham County and Holmes since. Their ledger includes one win over a 12th Region team, a 74-50 victory over Pulaski County.
Danville is making its fourth trip to the All “A.” The Lady Admirals’ only win in four previous trips was in 2011, when they rallied from 20 points down to defeat Walton-Verona and advance to teh quarterfinals. Here’s their tournament history:
- 2004: lost to Louisville Holy Cross 62-46.
- 2006: lost to Trimble County 55-43.
- 2008: lost to Middlesboro 54-49.
- 2011: def. Walton-Verona 55-54; lost to Newport Central Catholic 67-47.
Gallatin is in the tournament for the first time since 2009, when it reached the quarterfinals.
