District tournament schedules
If the snowplows can get the parking lots cleared, district tournaments will tip off Feb. 22 — just one week from tonight — across Kentucky. Games involving the eight Advocate-area teams will be at Danville (45th District), East Jessamine (46th) and Casey County (47th), and the schedules are set for those tourneys.
The most intriguing elimination game involving an area team has to be the Casey girls’ game against Somerset in the 47th. Losing the No. 1 seed to rival Rockcastle County was costly for defending regional champ Casey, which lost one of its two regular-season meetings with Somerset. And the Lincoln County boys face a tougher road to the regional after losing a coin toss to Boyle County for the No. 1 seed in the 45th; they’ll play Danville in their semifinal.
The winners and runners-up from those districts and the 48th District will advance to the 12th Region Tournaments. The girls regional will be played March 1-2 and 5-6 at Lincoln County; the boys regional is March 3-4 and 8-9 at Pulaski County.
