12th Region Tournament pairings
The two boys teams and two girls teams that are widely considered the co-favorites in their respective 12th Region Tournaments drew into opposite brackets when the pairings for the two tourneys were drawn today.
West Jessamine and McCreary Central are on opposite sides of the boys tournament — although both got tough draws — while Lincoln County and Rockcastle County are in opposite brackets of the girls tournament.
The West Jessamine boys will play Wayne County in the first game of their tournament Wednesday at Pulaski County. One night later, McCreary will face Mercer County, the only team in the region to beat both McCreary and West Jessamine in the regular season.
As for the other Advocate-area teams in the boys field, Boyle County and Casey County will face off Wednesday in a rematch of a game from the final week of the regular season that Boyle won by 30 points. And Danville will play host Pulaski on Thursday.
In the girls tournament, host Lincoln will play defending regional champion Casey on Monday, 10 days after Lincoln won their regular-season meeting by just one point. Rockcastle will face Garrard County on Tuesday.
Mercer County, the only other Advocate-area team in the field, will play Monticello on Tuesday.
