Boyle grad Yeary to coach Dunbar boys

Justin Yeary, who played on Boyle County’s regional championship basketball teams in 1998 and ’99, has been named the boys basketball coach at Paul Dunbar. Mike Fields of the Lexington Herald-Leader reported the hiring on his blog today.

This is the first head coaching position for Yeary, who has been a boys and girls assistant at Lexington Christian. And it’s a tough job, as Dunbar went 3-22 this season in its final year under Carl “Redd” Hutchison.

Yeary becomes the second player from those Boyle teams to become a head coach. Derek Springate just completed his first season at Henry County with a 15-13 record.
