Three area players chosen for Lowe all-star game
Three Advocate-area basketball players are scheduled to play in the Gene Lowe Junior All-Star Game on Thursday in Berea.
This game showcases the top current juniors from the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th Regions. It will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Berea College’s Seabury Center.
Jacob Bodner of Boyle County, Clay Cinnamon of Mercer County and Jacody Taylor of Danville are among six 12th Region players chosen for the game, which will pit the all-stars from the 10th and 12th regions against those from the 11th and 13th regions.
Here are the full rosters:
- 12th Region: Jacob Bodner, Boyle County; Clay Cinnamon, Mercer County, Jacob Dixon, McCreary Central; Gavin Dunagan, Wayne County; Austin Shearer, Wayne County; Jacody Taylor, Danville.
- 10th Region: Kyle King, Deming; Luke King, Deming; Treg Setty, Mason County; Kellen Smith, Scott; Robbie Stenzel, George Rogers Clark; Vinny Zollo, George Rogers Clark.
- 11th Region: Marcellus Barksdale, Tates Creek; James Evans, Bryan Station; Ryan Fucci, Tates Creek; Daniel Kiesling, Henry Clay; Taylor Martin, Lexington Catholic; Dee Yarborough, Lafayette.
- 13th Region: Jordan Akins, Whitley County; Travis Canady, Knox Central; Cody Likins, North Laurel; Ben Madon, Bell County; Matt Mitchell, Clay County; Codi Roberts, Clay County.
The game, now in its eighth year, honors the late Gene Lowe, a London sporting goods dealer who was a longtime basketball official and a supporter of 12th Region basketball and who was known to coaches far beyond the boundaries of this region.
