Well, I guess I’m starting “real life” officially now. I moved into my apartment yesterday, got the living room furniture in today, and I start my first full-time job tomorrow!
It’s all really exciting, but I’m a little nervous too. Even though I’ve worked in the office for the past two years, there’s still a lot that I don’t know, and some things that I should know but probably don’t. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow!
I just got my new furniture in about two hours ago, and I love it!! I was a little worried about getting it up the stairs and in through the apartment door, but thanks to my future father-in-law and my friend, Chris, it’s set up nicely! I’m looking forward to all the wonderful naps I’ll enjoy on my couch.

I am moving into an apartment tomorrow!!!! The apartment is in Campbellsville where I will be starting my full-time job on Thursday!
I figured out that with rent, deposit, and the new furniture I bought (even though it was an AMAZING deal)… I probably just spent my first two paychecks without even starting the job yet!
On the bright side though, at least I had money saved up. Plus, the furniture was a great deal… I got a sofa, loveseat and chair for $500 at a store in Murray. All the pieces match, dark brown leather on the bottom and lighter brown for cushions… and the best part is, I don’t have to wake up early searching through dozens of yard sales just to see if they even have a couch.
So, yeah, maybe my first two paychecks are already spent before I started the job, but I’m sure it will be well worth it.

When I was searching for jobs, reading the classifieds became a daily routine. And, now that I have a job, I check the classifieds for deals on furniture and other such things I might need. Last week I happened to come across the Attic Sale at Carol’s Bridal.
I had always heard there were more dresses upstairs in Carol’s, but I never knew there would be so much stuff up there! And, among the discontinued wedding dresses, I found my wedding dress!
Of course, now that my fiance has decided to start reading my blog, I can’t post a photo or tell what it looks like. But, for only $99 it was a beautiful steal!
That’s almost as good as my sophomore year $17 prom dress.

Because I recently got a job and will be moving back to Campbellsville soon, my brother and I have been hitting up the yard sales for cheap deals on kitchen items and furniture! He is also going to college at UK in August so he’s been checking out dorm items.
Not only did we find great deals, I found a bit of encouragement.
Saturday, after we had already visited to the yard sales we marked in the Advocate, we decided to try out one more on Perryville Road. My brother found a desk lamp and a painting for a total of $2, and I found someone who actually reads my blog!
Many times the only comments I receive are from family members or professors and what are now my co-workers at CU. I wondered if anyone else actually read my blog? Well, now I know that at least one other person does. And, it was kind of funny because she knows so much about me, and I had not a clue who she was.
Are there any more of you out there? Please, leave a comment even if it just says hi. And, thank you for reading!
Don’t know how to leave a comment? Click on the bubble at the top right corner of each blog that has a number in it.
You can always find more than great deals at a yard sale!
This week’s finds: nice table, shelves, two mixing bowls, fry pans, plate/cup/bowl set (at least 15 pieces!), mini ironing board, and one more reader! All for a total of less than $30!

How often is it that the same thing happens to you on the same day only five years apart? Well, today the most awesome thing happened to me that also happened five years ago!
As you know, I’ve been searching for jobs… today I was offered a job at Campbellsville University working in the Office of University Communications!!!! It’s my first full-time job out in the “real” world (I guess it’s getting even that much closer to real!).
The funny part is, today is my birthday! Five years ago on this same day, I was offered my very first job working at J.C. Penney. Isn’t it neat that my very “first jobs” were both offered to me on my birthday five years apart??? It’s probably one of those stories I’ll tell over and over again that everyone will rolls their eyes at, but for me it is exciting!
Plus, it’s only one month after graduation… I am truly blessed to have found a job so quickly that I will love! I’ve heard it can take up to six months to find a job after graduation… praise the Lord I found mine!
Now it’s time to start apartment hunting! Know of any apartments or houses for rent in Campbellsville?

Last week I found out there is a job opening at Campbellsville University in the Office of University Communications, where I worked for the past two years as a student.
I have now gone through three steps of the interview process and I’m anxiously waiting to hear the decision!
It’s been nice to actually have something to do, something to put on my calendar that looks promising. Friday I drove to Campbellsville to discuss the job with John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president, and Joan McKinney, news and publications coordinator. Then yesterday (Monday) I met Ginny Flanagan, special assistant to the president, at the Hub; then I made my way back to Campbellsville to talk to Linda Waggener, marketing coordinator, and once again with Joan.
Finally when someone asks what my plans are, I can at least say I’ve been to an interview. And, I would say that’s pretty good considering it’s only been a month since graduation.
When I find something out, you’ll be sure to hear about it! I’m simply excited for the opportunity!

I’ve actually been keeping busy with getting ready for my little brother’s graduation party (doing all the grocery shopping… three trips in one week), and shopping for wedding dresses!
It’s been nice to actually have some things to do besides sit around the house. And, I’ve also applied for a couple more jobs… we’ll see how it all turns out!
For now, though, here are some photos from mine and my brother’s, Josh, graduations.
This was supposed to be a cute photo of us hugging, but my cap fell off.

With my granny from California… she was in town for my graduation May 8 until Josh’s May 30. She spent a week in between in Milwaukee with her roommate from college… they’ve been friends for 60 years! I hope I’m still friends with some of those from college in 60 years.
