IDA buys 90 acres

This morning, the Industrial Development Authority approved purchasing about 90 acres of land near U.S. 27 in north Lancaster. The land is part of the large empty space on the east side of U.S. 27, across the street from McDonald’s. There are two other pieces of the land that touch U.S. 27 — the IDA’s land is behind those parcels. This is the same land that has been identified as a potential location for a grocery store or county pool in recent feasibility studies.

Nathan Mick and David Land told me there are no specific plans for the land yet — it was bought opportunistically when it became available. They both said the land will be used down the road to attract businesses. In the meantime, it might be available for the public to use as a green space like a park or athletic fields, if details about that can be worked out. Read the Advocate story here.
