I’m a 23-year-old journalist trying to be an English language instructor in Bratislava, Slovakia. Originally from the Columbus, Ohio, area, I graduated from the University of Kentucky (Go Cats!) almost two years ago.
After working as a staff reporter at The Winchester Sun, I decided to follow a calling to one of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s global missions in Europe (while also tackling the travel bug that would not get off my back).
I invite you to read along (and comment) as I try and describe the funny and awkward lost-in-translation moments, the more serious challenging moments, and the wonderfully rewarding moments that are sure to happen during this journey.
You can also send suggestions or questions to me at kgperk2@gmail.com.

Hello-I am looking for a local guide/driver for my parents (from Dayton, Ohio) a few days picking up in Budapest and staying in Kezmarok. Wondering if you would know of a nice person? Timing would be June.
Thank you,
Wendy Klein
