Opponents of including a public option as part of a national health care reform bill say it would eventually lead to a single-payer health insurance system like Canada’s, and that it would be a nightmare. But there was an interesting column in USA Today yesterday by an editor who lives in Toronto, and it dispels some of the misconceptions many Americans have about Canada’s insurance and health care systems.
