UK Basketball: Waiting game

First it was waiting for a coach. Next is who’s going to be on the roster next season. That question lingers on the mind of fans in Big Blue Nation two days before another Run for the Roses takes place at Churchill Downs in Louisville. It has indeed been a stressful turn of events for …

Thoughts from the back deck

I am sitting here on my back deck enjoying a peaceful evening. The sun has already set and another day is in the books. Night is falling. My eyes capture the scenery across the landscape. It’s a perfect time to capture and evening baseball game or just enjoy one of life’s simple pleasures that doesn’t …

I grew up following the Big Blue and am a lifelong follower of the Wildcats. Back when I was young, it was Kentucky basketball. My entire family are fans.

Patrick Patterson has a fan in 3-year-old Lexxie.     I met little Lexxie during a visit to Cracker Barrel Wednesday night in Richmond not long after Patterson had announced his plans to test the waters and enter the NBA draft. Lexxie’s father is a huge Kentucky fan and talked to me about the …

Kenny Perry made us proud

Kenny Perry waves to the crowd after his birdie putt on the 12th green during the final round of the Masters at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. AP photo

Kentucky catches a lot of criticism.   Not just when the University of Kentucky isn’t meeting high standards when it comes to basketball or when the Wildcats aren’t doing so well on the gridiron. We catch a lot of grief for our heritage and our culture. This state isn’t perfect, and doesn’t claim to …
