Georgia football coach Mark Richt violated NCAA rules when he provided a few of his assistant coaches with supplemental pay out of his own pocket.
The school cited economic concerns as a reason for holding back pay increases to several members of Richt’s staff and the Georgia coach took matters into his own hands.
Richt did a good deed, one that the NCAA determined as a no-no, and considered it a minor violation.
It may have been a so-called violation in the NCAA’s eyes, but in my view, Richt deserves a pat on the back for putting others ahead of himself and following the Golden Rule, which we all should live by no matter the circumstances.
