Coaching changes: Connecting the dots

It appears the University of Tennessee has its man. Maybe.
Word has surfaced that Air Force coach Troy Calhoun is headed to Knoxville to take over as the team’s head football coach. Calhoun was a target when the Vols hired Lane Kiffin.
Although not a household name, Calhoun isn’t a stranger within the coaching circles. Calhoun has coached in the NFL with the Denver Broncos and was an assistant coach (offensive coordinator) at Wake Forest from 2003-05.
Ironically, Eastern Kentucky football coach Dean Hood coached alongside Calhoun when the two were coaching together in Winston Salem.
Calhoun has reportedly elected to stay with Air Force and Tennessee has likely shifted its focus to former assistant coach and current Duke head man David Cutcliffe.
In other football happenings, former Kentucky wide receiver Tommy Cook will serve as a graduate assistant coach on Joker Phillips’ first staff at Kentucky.
