For the past few days, I’ve been celebrating Christmas and keeping everything in perspective. It’s easy to get caught up in the holiday rush, but I caught enough time to watch the Christmas Story on TBS during its 24-hour cycle Thursday. Also read the true meaning of Christmas as told in the New International version of the Bible as written in the Berea Citizen by publisher Teresa Scenters. The story never grows old and has never lost its meaning.
Also watched Christmas Vacation for the one billioneth time.
Also spent plenty of time with immediate family and in-laws and especially enjoyed the yearly trek to McKee in Jackson County. Also went to mom’s in Berea, which always features a competitive family game of Rook.
This Christmas didn’t have the appeal of commercialism, which added new meaning to the holiday season. Also took time to remember my grandmother who passed away at midnight on Christmas Day 14 years ago.
The thought crossed my mind that maybe we all need to take the foot off the accelerator and slow down a little bit. Take a deep breath and enjoy the meaning of the season and spend time with family and friends. Enjoy it and have a good time. Let it be Christmas all year long.
I have to admit that he fast pace of society can be troublesome at times. One of my resolutions is to slow down and enjoy life a little more than ever before.
Also going to do my best to treat others as I would like to be treated. Seems society also has lost the meaning of kindness and showing respect for one another. It’s sad to think when I hold the door open for someone it comes as a surprise rather than an expectation.
