Kidd-Gilchrist has right attitude

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist scored just four points in Kentucky’s win over Ole Miss last Saturday at Rupp Arena.
The freshman forward scored four the previous week at Vandy and has struggled offensively since he tallied double figures in four straight games.
In the past six games, Kidd-Gilchrist has tallied twin digits just twice, but that’s OK with him.
“I don’t look at the stats,” he said Monday as the Wildcats prepared for Tuesday night’s game against Mississippi State in Starkville. “I just love to win. That’s it.”
Although his offensive numbers have dwindled, Kidd-Gilchrist likes the way the way the team has performed since a 73-72 loss at Indiana on Dec. 10. Since then, Kentucky has won 18 straight games and is undefeated at 12-0 in the Southeastern Conference.
“It’s been great,” he said. “There is a lot of chemistry on this team now. We’re just getting better and better.”
With the possibility of an undefeated campaign looming in the conference, MKG said the Cats can’t look ahead, especially Tuesday night’s contest against the Bulldogs.
“It’s going to be hard,” he said. “The atmosphere will be tough and the fans will be loud like always. I just want to get better. That’s it. We take everything one game at a time.
Kidd-Gilchrist also is looking forward to the Big Dance.
“I can’t wait,” he said. “It’s one of my life long dreams so I really can’t wait to stir it up.”
