Out and about

Took  night off and decided to visit the All “A” Classic here in Richmond.

This tournament features the likes Elliott County and Shelby Valley, two of the top-rated teams in the state. Had a chance to watch the second-half of the Elliott County game and this team is for real.

* Shelby Valley also has talent. Elisha Justice, a junior guard, attended several Elite Camps last summer. Heard from a couple of sources that Justice is being looked at by Florida coach Billy Donovan among other top programs.

* Shelby Valley coach Jason Booher is one of seven who survived the Carrollton bus crash more than 20 years ago.  Booher’s first-round game was against Henry County, a team he previously coached.

* Also heard that Eastern Kentucky assistant football coach Donn Landholm has joined Danny Hope’s staff at Purdue as defensive coordinator. Landholm spent 12 seasons at Eastern and was defensive coordinator under Hope at Eastern from 2005-07.

Landholm was recruiting coordinator and linebackers coach on Dean Hood’s staff last season.
