Pelphrey out, Ford in at Arkansas?

Former Kentucky standout John Pelphrey was dismissed after four seasons as men’s basketball coach at Arkansas Sunday.
Reports on a possible successor have centered around former Arkansas assistant Mike Anderson, now the coach at Missouri, and Buzz Williams at Marquette. Although Anderson and Williams have ties to Arkansas, don’t rule out the possibility of another Wildcat taking over the reigns at Arkansas.
Former Kentucky guard Travis Ford, now at Oklahoma State, would love an opportunity to coach in the Southeastern Conference. Although Ford doesn’t have ties to Arkansas, he does have connections to its Arkansas athletics director Jeff Long.
It was Long who gave Ford his first shot at coaching Division I basketball at Eastern Kentucky University in 2000 during his tenure at Eastern.
Facing a major rebuilding project that took five years to complete, Ford turned the program from a pretender into a contender in the Ohio Valley Conference and guided the school to a 22-9 record in 2005 and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
