Harlan County defensive coordinator Ovie Canady was impressed with George Rogers Clark senior running back Pokey Harris, who rushed for 377 yards in the Cardinals’ 57-36 loss to the Black Bears last week. Canady sent the following e-mail to George Rogers Clark coach Paul Columbia earlier this week.
“We take a lot of pride in our defense and stopping the run. He is the best player that we have ever played against since we have been open. We played Channing Fugate from Breathitt and he is now at (Tennessee). I was impressed with him, but not as much as your guy. If someone doesn’t sign him soon, they are fools. I catch a lot of criticism around here for not crediting other teams players, but there is not shortage of that this week. That kid can play. Nice job offensively against us.”
Clark is at Lafayette Friday night in the district opener for both teams.
