This is my fourth straight night covering the 40th District Tournament this week. Two of those treks involved a visit to Paris and Bourbon County High School.
Bourbon County has a court that resembles the one I played on at Berea Community High School back in the late 1980s. It’s a niece venue and very spacious.
Aside from covering some good basketball that ends with the Indians and the Cardinals with the finals tonight, I do find time to eat and one of my favorites to visit in Paris is Jerry’s Restaurant.
When I was growing up, we had a Jerry’s in Richmond on the EKY Bypass and we had dinner there more than once a week, but mostly on Sunday after church. Dad and Mom would ask where we wanted to eat and the usual answer was Jerry’s or Frisch’s, or Ponderosa Steakhouse.
I had a J-Boy for dinner tonight and half of a Hot Fudge Cake. It’s hard to beat good food and it hasn’t changed. I just wish we had a Jerry’s back in Richmond, but I will settle for points in between. There also is a Jerry’s in Mount Sterling, site of next week’s 10th Region boys basketball tournament.
Guess where I will be eating my pre-game meal?
