TGIF!

Football season is one of my favorite parts of the year. The whole week is spent leading up to the big game.

Whether it be college, professional or high school, the big game is what everyone looks forward to, from the players, parents, coaches and the ordinary fan. It’s even a big night for the cheerleaders, the band and the whole student body.

While covering George Rogers Clark’s home opener last week, it was nice to see all the fans in the stands. The place was literally packed. One spectator complained about not being able to see because the students were standing in front of them. As with the case with most prep football games, the student body mostly stands during the duration of the game, which is fine.

However, as I made my way down to the field for interviews in the overtime period, there were several middle-school aged fans running around like crazy behind the stands. I would hope those fans got to see at least part of or most of an exciting game.

Sure the big football game is somewhat of a social event, but running around in the back of the stands isn’t the place to be while the game is going on.

Have a seat and enjoy the game.
